Whats the best arthritis treatment?

I have rheumatiod, osteo and psoriatic arthritis and am currently taking 6 Sulphsalazine tablets daily. It's the second time of trying them as I reacted badly the first time I took them. I am wondering if there are any other tablets I could take. I'm going to the dr's on Friday to enquire about this, and could anyone on here give me any clues as to what to ask for. I am seeing a rheumatologist.

  1. I have Rheumatoid and osteo as well. I do not take the med you are on. I take a weekly injection called Embrel that slows it down to a wee crawl. I can crouch down on my knees which I have not been able to do for quite some time. Are you seeing a Rheumatologist? I suggest you see one so they can help you with the right meds for where you are at with the diesease.
  2. Weed.
  3. heat treatment.
  4. Advil it's the only thing that usually really works.
  5. Laugh, but I use Cannibalm.

That's a marijuana oil that you rub on your joints. I have a legal perscription here in California and it works better than anything else I've tried.

I have arthritis as a result of Lyme's Disease.
  6. activon
  7. Most medications available by prescription exist to make pharmaceutical companies richer. Try holistic remedies, yoga, meditation and relaxation techniques. Weed also helps.
  8. Not hot, not freezing, a little less then hot, but make sure it is a cold shower. After the shower make sure your room is nice and warm. Most of all sleeping, get at least 10 hours of sleep a day. A nap is what qualty sleep is. All of those will help you get better.
  9. I have had good results with Lodine and Plaquenil for polyarthritis with positive ANA. I also receive cortisone injections in my hips and shoulders about once a year. Aside from the meds, using ice and heat can help to relieve some of the pain, stiffness, and swelling.

*Patients taking Plaquenil require regular thorough eye exams by an Ophthalmologist due to potential side effects.
  10. Ginger Root Extract. 2 three times a day. It's an anti-inflammatory and it works.
  11. I can only speak from personal experience and your arthritis may be more severe than mine but here's what happened with me. I suffered from arthritis in my foot sometimes so pain full I was forced to use a cane at times. The doctors tried all sorts of pain relievers but none worked. There was either no relief or the effects of the drugs made life miserable. I began a regimen of vitamins and Glucosimine Chondritin on my own after about 30 days my pain began to decrease significantly it has been about three years and I have not had to use a cane since. I still have arthritis but the pain is now manageable with vicodin.
  12. I can't believe that you all don't know about all the drugs coming out for arthritis and that there are a number of drug trials happening with such fantastic results, especially here in Australia. Ask your specialist doctor if he can put you on one of these medical trials. The name of the drug for rheumatoid arthritis trial is called Golimumab and you are able to get more info on this world wide trial by typing the drug name in at google.
  13. Try a Yahoo search for arthritis + "natural remedies".
  14. There is no best arthritis medication. There are hundreds of medications effective in arthritic patients. Your main problem is you have more than one type of arthritis. This is an issue that can only be evaluated by your personal physician. There are too many variables to even make a suggestion. The best therapy for osteo arthritis, would not be the best therapy for psoriatic or rheumatoid arthritis. Your therapies could encompass intravenous immune globulin or another intravenous medication to decrease the autoimmune issues of rheumatoid arthritis, even gold therapy. The anti inflammatory agents such as traditional nsaids and cox-2 inhibitors are the most commonly used in osteoarthritis, sometimes steroids. The newest drugs are probably those developed through recombinant DNA research such as Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha inhibitors.

Continue working with your rheumatologist, in a case of multiple causative factors it takes time to find the best treatment or combination of therapies.
  15. There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
    Acidity, worry, excessive wind, anger, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
    Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I treat it with SHREE SWASTHYAYOG THERAPY with 90% success.
