Rheumatoid Arthritis?

I'm sixteen, female, and have never in my life felt any sort of pain I would ever relate to arthritis. When I was around six I developed 'lumps' on my foot and had recently had them surgically removed. Apparently they are rheumatoid nodules, although I'm completely confused about how this is even plausible. Most things I have read state that usually in the first few months most people are crippled, yet I have never felt joint pain in my life. Is there any possibility that I couldn't have rheumatoid arthritis? And this was some sort of oddity? My surgon seemed baffled by arthritis, and was little if any help.
