Rheumatoid arthritis?What should not I eat and should I eat for rheumatoid arthritis? Which exercises and sports are suitable for rheumatoid arthritis? I was diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis.I have had the disease since I was 11.At first,I can't walk.After 2years,I recovered and since then,I have been healthy.Now I am 23/male/married/1 child.However when I had checkup again,I was diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis again and the doctor told that my lungs were not very good and I had high cholesterol level even though I am lean.Is it because I eat a lot of eggs?That's why I have been doing exercises eveyday until now to get rid of not only cholesterol and rheumatoid arthritis as well. I don't want to take many medicines with harmful side effects. I prefer avoiding foods that are bad for rheumatoid arthritis and taking remedies. And I am perfectly willing to do exercises and sports instead of taking drugs. Which sports are suitable for rheumatoid arthritis?

Rheumatoid arthritis?I have had rheumatoid arthritis since I was 9. It was originally diagnosed as "Juvinile Rheumatoid Arthritis". Does anyone know of any natural supplements that help? Ive tried everything, and I'm getting sick of all this crap my rheumatoligist is prescribing.

Rheumatoid Arthritis?I'm sixteen, female, and have never in my life felt any sort of pain I would ever relate to arthritis. When I was around six I developed 'lumps' on my foot and had recently had them surgically removed. Apparently they are rheumatoid nodules, although I'm completely confused about how this is even plausible. Most things I have read state that usually in the first few months most people are crippled, yet I have never felt joint pain in my life. Is there any possibility that I couldn't have rheumatoid arthritis? And this was some sort of oddity? My surgon seemed baffled by arthritis, and was little if any help.

Rheumatoid arthritis?!?Hi I am 39 years old and have a Herrington rod. I had spinal fusion for severe scoliosis; in 1981 I have since been having lower back pain. All last month both of my hip joints were extremely painful. That pain was enough to keep me in bed for days. It seemed worse when we had a lot of rain; and my A/C was on. My Mom had arthritis all over, but she is now deceased and I am not exactly sure what arthritis she had. Does this sound like Rheumatoid arthritis coming on? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Rheumatoid Arthritis??i'm 19 & i have cracky bones like in almost every of my joints. most of my peers say that if i keep doing that i may get rheumatoid arthritis when i'm old. As far as i know when rheumatoid occurs, there's pain presence or maybe some swelling and redness, but i don't have any. do i still need to seek for medical help?

Rheumatoid arthritis?So I'm 19 and I just found out that I have rheumatoid arthritis. I have to go see a rheumatologist (sp?) sometime next week I think. But for people who know more about this than I do, what does that mean? I have done some research but everything I have found out is pretty depressing. So I didn't know if someone who has it or is a nurse or something could kind of tell me a little bit more about it? Rheumatoid arthritis?My mom went to the doctor this morning, and they suspect that she has rheumatoid arthritis. Auto-immune disease runs in our family, so its not a huge shock, but no one in our family has RA. She is 61 yrs old, and has pain in her finger and wrist joints. Rheumatoid arthritis?My grandmother has had rheumatoid arthritis for a fair amount of time now. She was recently hospitalised for a few days, then released home under conditions of a family member moving in with her. She has chosen to go against doctor's orders and self-medicate her medicine- meaning she takes it very rarely, if ever. She falls constantly and has had events similar to a seizure.

Rheumatoid arthritis?can any one explain this type of arthritis to me? i have been diagnosed with arthritis for many years now and it is only getting worse. every joint in my body hurts-hands,fingers,wrist,toes, ankles, knees, hip (both sides and center), chest joint and ribs, elbow-just one, back-lower and upper, and jaw. it started mildly at 20yrs old and this past year and a half (i'm 34 now) it has progressed to the point of intolerable. i am loosing cordination in my fingers and feet. i am not sure what kind of arthritis i have, can anyone explain better than just plain arthritis? what are the different kinds?

Rheumatoid Arthritis?I am 23 years old and have RA. My doctors put me on presidisone and methotrexate. I stopped taking my medicine almost two months ago and i feel great.... I have my bad days like usual..but I try not to think about it...but the best part of it all is I feel like myself again. Especially when i was on Presidisone it made me so depressed and I was gaining weight I was so unhappy in my life...i hated it. Does anyone have any advice for me and wondering what is the key to staying off the medicine and will i be okay with out it. I feel like all doctors do is prescribe you drugs.

Rheumatoid Arthritis?Hey guys...I am 20 and I was just diagnosed with RA...my grandma had it and I guess it tends to skip a generation... I was just wondering if anyone else young like me has it? Obviously the answer is yes but sometimes I just feel like I'm the only one who seems to have a body that thinks its 78... Right now I am on a sulfa drug but its been like 2 months and I still get pains in my fingers and hands...is this normal for anyone else who has it? I know it has to build up and I am gonna ask my doc about it but I am just curious....

Rheumatoid arthritis?I am 22. I know RA and JRA run in both sides of my family including my 3 year old neice. I have always had unexplained joint and muscle pain but in the past 6 months it has been worse. My big toes, my fingers, my knees. I have also lost 20 lbs in the past 6 months without trying. This past week my right hand (index finger and thumb) have been excrutiating. I have a doctor's apt on monday. i want to go in knowing everything posible. Does this sound like RA? Rheumatoid arthritis?My husband suffers from RA and is presently taking methatrexate, for treatment. Has anyone went into remission from this treatment. He stays really nauseated, and has to take meds for that as well. I see that people stay on this med for quite a while, I thought the objective was remission and discontinuing use. Are there long term side effects from this drug?

Rheumatoid arthritis?So 3 months ago I started to have a little pain and tenderness on my inner ankle bone. Didn't think it was anything serious at the time but now months later it has continued to get more and more severe. My entire foot and has become swollen and deformed and I can barely squeeze it into any shoe. I wear flip flops. X-ray and MRIs showed only dramatic inflammation. I have been taking Voltaren for one month and it doesn't seem to be working anymore. I have a rheumatologist appt in a month to proceed with testing but nothing I read says that flare ups can last this long! And it just gets worse! And only in one ankle and foot, not the other. I did have some swelling in my other big toe but can gout last this long. Does anyone have any other ideas or personal experience with this to share. I feel like I can't wait another month to find out what the heck is wrong with me. I am 30 and a female and I miss my high heels!

Rheumatoid Arthritis?I was diagnosed with RA in April of this year. In september of 2006 I had my first child. Since then I've been trying to lose weight. I was less than ten pounds towards my pre baby weight.. now that the doctor has put me on predisone. I have been putting the weight back on. My doctor also has me on methotrexate. Is it just the predisone that is making me gain weight or is it a combination of both. I know that predisone makes you gain weight...but how about methotrexate?

I work in an office writing , typing etc which is agony and i have been waiting 2 months for specislist equipment to do my job. Juvenile Arthritis to Rheumatoid Arthritis to PREMATURE DEATH???My daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis when she was 4 yrs old. She is one of the 10% (?) of kids who don't grow out of it (so is it now RA?) and, at the age of 20, it affects virtually every joint in her body, with permanent damage to her wrists and neck. From very early on, her mantra was "I will NOT allow my arthritis to rule my life" and, although obviously some activities are closed to her, she tries very hard to remain true to this. However, the other day, she was researching Rheumatoid Arthritis in order to write a newspaper article and, amongst the information she received, was one study (conducted among those who were diagnosed with RA at the age of 50) which said that RA could lead to premature death. One of the causes of death that was sited was renal failure - my daughter is already experiencing kidney problems that, so far, have not been satisfactorily diagnosed. Obviously, she/we are VERY scared. Is there any rheumatologist out there? Why can't she speak to her consultant? She lives in Southern Ireland and is experiencing problems with her employers due to the sick leave she has taken (actually, perhaps only 10 days in the last 3 months - pretty good, given her condition?!) and has therefore delayed her next appointment. Hmmm - thanx 'smartypants' - but methotrexate did nothing for her.

Do Rheumatoid Arthritis flareups cause you to be sick as well as in pain?I have had rheumatoid arthritis for a long time (since my teens) and when ever it flares up above the usual I get fairly sick as well. I run a small fever, vomiting, headaches and extreme tiredness. All of which can last over a week and can occur every month or so. In some ways its like having the flu with the RA. I have been taking methotrexate for years now. Other drugs either did nothing or made me more unwell (SulfurSalazine) than the methotrexate does. I also drink, and I mean drink, fish oil. Do others with RA react this way regularly to RA flair ups? Cos I am sick of it myself. Thankyou for your comments. Yes I do go to a rheumatologist. He has trialled me on several drugs, but as I did to the SulfurSalazine I react violently to so many, even the methotrexate gives me grief. He has considered Arava with the methotrexate, although is more inclined recently to try gold, but i have put that off for a month (holidays) as it has a busy management regime and is only effective in 30% of cases he tells me. As is typical I have had lots of steroid injections in my joints, mainly hands and knees and I take NSAIDs. I am putting off a shoulder replacement till the pain beats me. Things like four hip replacements concerns me, just how long do replacements last?? Sorry, per the email answer, by Gold I mean weekly Gold injections

Could I have rheumatoid arthritis? I have pain in multiple joints, including wrists, elbows, knees, ankles.?I am only 28 years old, so this is not likely due to osteoarthritis. The joint pain seems to get worse throughout the day, although it improves with exposure to heat (e.g. hot showers, rubbing them with Icy-Hot). I am also more tired than normal, and the pain is making normal activities (working in the lab, cooking, etc.) difficult. I went to a doctor, and she decided to do various blood test, including one for rheumatoid factor (an indicator of rheumatoid arthritis), but I won't know the results for several more days. I have already consulted various on-line sources for information, and was wondering whether anyone here has had experience with rheumatoid arthritis or similar diseases that can give me some information or insight? I should mention that I live in California, so it is unlikely to be Lyme Disease. Thanks to everyone who is responding!

Hashimoto's Disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis?My mother in law was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease about 12 years ago. Now she is showing symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis. I am making her go to the doctor tomorrow but are the two diseases related??? Is it common to get Rheumatoid Arthritis with Hashimoto's Disease??? I love her to death and I just want to get the best info possible to help her. Thanks for any info!!! I know because I have researched the disease and its symptoms. She shows just about every symptom. She has refused to go to the doctor for the last 3 weeks to get it diagnosed. IF it is something else then I hope it is something less severe.

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis?I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and it is really starting to affect my daily living? I look totally healthy but the RA is really starting to make life difficult. How do I explain to the doctor it is about that time to get a handicap sticker... as it is getting difficult for me to walk short distances without a walker. I am only 34 and this is so frustrating. Even with medications it is difficult for me to open a bottle of water and my typing is down to hunting and pecking. thanks for your help.

Rheumatoid Arthritis & Pills..??I have Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 7. The doctors have prescribed me so many different meds, And its getting more complicated now that i am 19 and still cannot swallow pills. When i was younger they would try to make every med in liquid form. But at this age , if i were taking everything in liquid form, id be drinking an ocean each day! I need to eventually learn how to swallow pills. My question is, Are there any tricks to help me swallow pills? I know its all mental. But then again, ive been trying since the age of 7. And no pill can ever get down my throat. But i guess im willing to try once more. thank you.
